Topkapi /Gold Brooch

A burst of colour in copper & yarn - this brooch is delicately hand crocheted & hand stitched using a mixed media of double-entwined coloured copper wire, luxury hand-dyed yarn and crystal.

The luxury yarn used for this design is merino singles, hand-dyed by Jess of Olann yarns based in Ireland.

This pure merino yarn encompasses shades of copper, burnt-orange, brown, and flashes of the majestic blue that is a colour found in many islamic palaces and mosques around the world.

The inner circle is hand crocheted with double entwined copper wires in shades of rose-gold & blue. The wirework is accented with crystals in majestic blue to resemble the petals of a flower, with bronze seed-beads as the stamens.
The outer circle is hand crocheted with hand-dyed yarn and stitched to a golden frame to form a brooch.

The brooch measures 3.5cm in diameter.

These pieces are made with specialist hand-dyed yarn, which may not always be available, so they are made in small quantities, and would therefore be limited in number.

The wire colour may vary slightly depending on the reel batch, and how the yarn colours fall within the piece may vary depending on which part of the yarn I start crocheting with, but any variation will be very slight.

The crystals will be identical to the sample image. However, if you would prefer a different colour crystal, let me know in the comments section on checkout and I can swap them over for you.
