TEXTILE BROOCH - Paved with Gold
Paved with Gold /Silver Brooch
A burst of colour in copper & yarn - this brooch is delicately hand crocheted & hand stitched using a mixed media of silver-plated copper wire, luxury hand-dyed yarn and swarovski crystal.
The luxury yarn used for this design is 100% merino, hand-dyed by indie dyer Uschitita who is based in the Netherlands in her distinct colourway, 'Grounded'.
Her soft grey yarn, interspersed with flecks of golden honey & sunshine yellow, brought to mind the old story of Dick Whittington and his Cat, in which the streets of London were described as being "paved with gold".
The inner circle is hand crocheted with silver-plated copper wire, accented with swarovski crystals in light grey opal to resemble the colours of a paved street. The antique-gold glass beads in the centre, are the specks of trodden gold-dust, hidden in the cracks of the cobbled stones.
The outer circle is hand crocheted with hand-dyed yarn and stitched to a silver frame to form a brooch.
The brooch measures 3.5cm in diameter.
These pieces are made with specialist hand-dyed yarn, which may not always be available, so they are made in small quantities, and would therefore be limited in number.
The wire colour may vary slightly depending on the reel batch, and how the yarn colours fall within the piece may vary depending on which part of the yarn I start crocheting with, but any variation will be very slight.
The swarovski crystals will be identical to the sample image. However, if you would prefer a different colour crystal, let me know in the comments section on checkout and I can swap them over for you.
