Textile & Crystal Bangle - Imperial Mint
A regal blend of copper & yarn - this is delicately hand crocheted & hand stitched using a mixed media of double-entwined silver plated copper, luxury hand-dyed yarn and crystal.
The inspiration for the name of this bangle, comes from the colours in the yarn. It reminded me of one of the old buildings within the Topkapi palace in Istanbul where they would deposit money and treasures called the 'Imperial Mint'. I visited this place many many years ago, it's a wondrous place full of antiquities and precious items from kings and prophets from long ago.
The luxury yarn used for this design is a 100% merino yarn, hand-dyed by Bernie of BearinSheepsClothing yarns, based in Northern Ireland.
This yarn encompasses shades of grey, lilac, sandstone, light pink and pale-khaki.
The inner part is hand crocheted with silver-plated copper wires and embellished with a matching crystal in chrysolite green, surrounded by antique-gold glass beads.
The outer part is hand crocheted with hand dyed yarn.
The bangle has a silver-plated base and has a spring opening, making it easy to put on and off your wrist.
The bangle measures 6.5cm/2.5" across it's widest point, and fits up to a 7" wrist.
The wire colour may vary slightly depending on the reel batch, and how the yarn colours fall within the piece may vary depending on which part of the yarn I start crocheting with, but any variation will be very slight. Each bangle will be unique and one-of-a-kind. The crystal and glass beads will be identical to the sample image.
These pieces are made with specialist hand-dyed yarn, which may not always be available, so they are made in small quantities, and would therefore be limited in number.
