Bermuda blue / Gold-filled hooks
Get lost in a deep teal and glinting white circular window, like shimmering sunlight on deep waters, encircling a bewitching triangle of crystal.
These earrings were inspired by a shawl design by Stephen West called Slipstravaganza - a semi-circular shawl that I knitted which featured triangles around the lower edges.
The outer edge of the earrings are hand crocheted in contrasting luxury hand-dyed yarn, the deep teal by Norne Yarn and cream by Hedgehog Fibres.
I used both the yarn colours in my shawl, which were the lightest and darkest colours in my version, and embellished it with colourful crystals throughout. I also used tropical yellows and oranges as a contrast to the teal, which, coupled with the triangle, made me think of deep blue oceans and the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. And so these earrings were born.
The inner triangle is hand crocheted with gilt-plated copper, and are embellished with swarovski crystals in peach, topaz, greens and turquoise.
They are finished with gold filled (gold over sterling silver) ear hooks.
The hoops are gorgeously large! The earrings measure 6cm across and 7cm from top of hook to bottom of earring.
How the yarn colours fall within the piece may vary depending on which part of the yarn I start crocheting with, but any variation will be very slight.
I will always try to mirror the earrings so that the colours are as symmetrical and balanced as possible. The crystal colours will be as seen.
These pieces are made with specialist hand-dyed yarn and so this item will be limited.
